The disappointment of Akufo-Addo’s government and Mahama’s substandardness

“The isolated incident of violence, which occurred in the early stages of the election, was unfortunate and regrettable, and I condemn it in no uncertain terms. A by-election should be a peaceful and happy event, no matter how competitive. The Police is committed to conducting a rapid inquiry into the matter, and I expect all persons who are found culpable, at the end of the process, to face the full rigours of the law” - Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo “We are not going to joke in 2020, and I’m sounding a warning to the NPP – we are going to match them boot for boot…I  want to sound a caution that NDC has a revolutionary root and when it comes to unleashing violence, no one can beat us to that. It is just that we are mindful of this country’s democracy and that is why we must be the first to respect it." - John Dramani Mahama. It has been two years since the President took office from the erstwhile Mahama administration which was tagged ‘incompetent’ by members of the then opposi...

OH LORD, JUST THIS ONCE!🙏

Image
She looked stunning as always in her long blue dress. Blue is probably the new gold! Just two seats away from the Preacher, she felt awed by the message. It was a 'Call To Your First Love' by Rev Richardson Omane, a renowned revivalist who had been invited to Cynthia's church as part of the 5-days revival. It was a Sunday and the last day of the revival. She obviously seemed in love with the Revivalist's sermons. After his first sermon, 'Lord, I'm all  yours', Asabea had not missed the first row. Obviously, she wasn't the only one eagerly waiting for today's message. As early as 7:30am, all the front seats had been taken. She thus reluctantly made for the next seat on the second row. She had to check her watch again to be sure it was only 7:30am and the auditorium was beginning to fill up. This is truly a Revival! Rev. Gyebi was impressed that finally his congregation was appreciating the need to be on time to church. His constant nods to his c...

The Monster In Every Man

Image
(Behind The Mask - The Battle Within!) Regardless of sex, race, religion or beliefs, no man can be fully understood by another. What you know of a person is but a fraction of who entirely he or she is. The complexity of the human self makes it difficult to fully comprehend what makes up a man. You may be able to divine the traits of a person or be informed of the genetics but surely not the entirety of the person. In our Social Studies classroom, we learnt about Self as a concept. We understood that apart from the true self of a person, there are the other and ideal types of self. Usually, we are only privileged to know people by their true self. Behind the other self, is the monster in every man. However, while some are able to tame this monster, others have not had mastery over it. Be it a clergyman, politician, teacher, policeman, or whatever category a person belongs to, it takes a lot of efforts to suppress the monster. I have seen clergymen whose belts loosen at the sight...

DO PEOPLE JUST DIE? -The Search For Answers

Image
"Oheneba, you have a call" a colleague called from the nurses' station. I ran out of the other room but I guess I wasn't fast enough, I had missed it. It was Mum! I checked the time, and it was few minutes past 10 in the morning. Mum wouldn't call around this time unless she knew I had an off-day. I remembered! I had actually missed her calls earlier that night when the heavy rains put me to a long sleep. "What could be it?" I muttered. I dialed her number and MTN's favourite 'you have no call credit in your MTN account' was at the receiving end. But how?  I wasn't ready for MTN's 'antics' today. I definitely was going to get back at them. I only need to get through to my Mum first. I recharged then called again. She didn't pick up but called back instead. And "Hello", "Yes" was what I received from the other side. And that wasn't even Mum but kid Sis. "Ahhhh, as3m b3n?" to wit, "Wh...

STUCK IN LOVE

Image
I have been stuck in silence for a long time afraid I might say something wrong but I know I have a heart as loud as a lion and I will not let the thorns of life tame it. If there is light to fight the darkness why should it be hidden away? You cannot live enough to experience everything in life so I suggest you learn from this experience, I am not afraid anymore so I am putting it all on papers so others can read about it. I now understand why my heart is caged -to prevent me from loving too much- my heart is a monster when it comes to love. It is a pity that love sounds better in books, fairies and movies than it does in our real life experiences. Nothing was better than you and me together, but now I ask, was it only a fantasy or were you only imaginary? Was your love to be enjoyed or endured? Was it meant to heal or to wound? Your love has raised soo many questions than answers. To skip the good part where it was so nice and sweet,  where every other person wished their ...

THE LAST SCREAM: Every Mother's Experience

Image
All that I am, or hope to be, I owe it to my angel mother.  ~ Abraham Lincoln   On Mothers' Day, take a scroll on your WhatsApp contacts and you would find every display picture celebrating a woman. Get inquisitive to read the statuses and it will range from 'You are the best Mum in the world' to 'Mum like no other'. There is no social media platform that a mother won't be celebrated on. Some guys go to the extent of celebrating their girlfriends and wives for the 'motherly roles' they play. I'm not talking about those 'roles' today especially the ones played by girlfriends 😉. But take the guy with the longest essay on Facebook and ask him of his thoughts about the feminine society, two days before Mothers' Day, and it would either be 'all women are the same' or 'trust no woman'. And yet, he magically gives the finest accolades to his mum forgetting she is also a WOMAN! Suddenly she is the best of this 'trust no ...

I ONLY FONDLED, I DIDN'T ENTER

Image
Growing up in a Christian home, I understood the consequences of pre-marital sex. Several times, I had been told it was a great offence to God - probably the greatest. I remember the countless times the Street Evangelists from across my home would emphasise God's dislike for it. I realized how serious an issue it was back then. I told myself I would rather not fall into this 'great sin'. I avoided any form of intimacy with the opposite sex. By 20, I knew I would make the mark! If I had stayed so 'pure' all these years, why can I not do same for the next 5 to 10years when I finally meet my Beloved☺. I remember the several times I would boast to people how I had been able to keep myself 'intact' all the years. I recounted the several times I had to flee from the ladies who tried to get me to lay with them. Those were the times other young people were told to look up to me as an example to follow. On several platforms, I would tell my 'chaste' story...
